The Iraqi Center for Supporting Freedom of Speech condemns the attack on the staff of the Al-Mawqif satellite channel, by security forces in the Shorja area in downtown Baghdad on Tuesday December 12, 2017.

Where staff of the "Al-Mawkif" channel want to document the damage of The fire which broke out yesterday evening, in Shorja, center of Baghdad, they were beaten by members of security forces deployed there.

In this case the Iraqi Center calls the Ministry of the Interior and the agencies concerned to provide all necessary facilities for the media to perform its functions in accordance with the law.

The Iraqi Center for Supporting Freedom of speech provides a "legal team" if they complain against the who attacked the channel staff.

This comes after a staff member of the channel complained that "a security force from the Third Emergency Regiment attacked the staff of Al-Mawqaf satellite channel, consisting of reporter Hasan Hadi, photographer Haidar Mohammed and assistant photographer Safa Khalaf while covering the events in shorja market, indicating that "a group belonging to the third emergency regiment, prevented the photographer from work and when the reporter spoke with them surprised to beat him and the staff."
