The Iraqi Center for Supporting Freedom of Spoeech rejects the decision of Al- Anbar governor, Mohammed al-Halbusi, about close the offices of Al-Sharqiya satellite channel in the province and stop all their activities.

This is a violation of the freedom of expression, and politically requires condemnation, the Iraqi Center warns that it will take legal measures to prevent the influential and politicians from exploiting their power and authority to achieve political goals that harm the journalists work and impedes the progress of democracy in that country.

The Iraqi Center ask Al- Anbar governor, to rescind this order because it contravenes the freedom of media which guaranteed by the constitution, and we call the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi for urgent intervention, to re-open offices of Al-Sharqiya satellite channel in Anbar province, especially that the order issued by the Information and Communication Commission on 15-1-2017 while he was executed on 16-12-2017 and after making him a governor.

The Iraqi Center for Supporting Freedom of Speech pledges to appoint a "legal team" if the Al-Sharqiya satellite channel has lodged a complaint against the governor of Anbar to close their offices there.

The Iraqi Center has received an e-mail from the Office of Al- Anbar Governor of Anbar document (14047 on 16/12/2017), entitled Administrative Order, referring to the Information and Communication Authority No. (369 on 15/1/2017) (408 on 15/1/2017) and (5 / A / 5/1102 on 6/2/2017), Including the absence of a license for the Al- sharqiya channels to work in Iraq.

As it continues to exceed the standards established in the media institutions and the constant misinformation of the public opinion and transfer of false news, which tried to affect negatively in the reconstruction process in Anbar province, Al- Anbar governor said, Therefore, we decided to close all offices of  Al-Sharqiyah  channel and stop the media activity for an unknown date which is not convincing, especially with the escalation of political differences in the province and talk about corruption continues to hit state institutions.
