The Iraqi Center for Supporting Freedom of Speech (Rights) rejects the action taken by Qaimmakam of Diwaniya Salim Haloul al-Abadi against journalists and bloggers, by demanding that the National Security Directorate scrutinize the personal pages in social media programs, while the Center considers this action unconstitutional and contradicts the freedom of expression.
At the same time, the Iraqi Center (Rights) condemns journalists and bloggers for spreading rumors. It calls Qaimmakam of Diwaniya Salim Haloul al-Abadi to understand his role and reassure citizens and public opinion, and not to be dragged to the methods of accusation and treason.
The Qaimmakam of Diwaniya Salim Haloul al-Abadi asked the National Security Directorate in province with an official letter to check the pages of journalists and bloggers in social networking sites, under the pretext of spreading rumors and intimidating people.
