The Iraqi Center for Supporting Freedom of Speech (Rights) condemns the repeated restriction of journalists' work by covering events in the country, and the most recent of which was the arrest of a Reuters news agency photographer in Basra (Essam al-Sudani), at 5 am on Saturday, September 1, 2018.
At a time when the Iraqi Center (Rights), rejects these actions, it demands the Commander D. Haidar al-Abadi, and Interior Minister Qassem al-Araji, the immediate release of the cameraman of Reuters news agency in Basra (Essam al-Sudani), and to punish those who have been arrested and referred to the courts, since their conduct came without a warrant of arrest or a judicial order.
“The Swat forces arrested me at 5 o'clock on Saturday, September 1, 2018, claiming to document the security plan near Al- Tahrer square, and then take me to the police station behind the Diwan of Basra province, and I still in prison” the Iraqi Center (Rights) received a call from a Reuters news agency photographer in Basra (Essam al-Sudani).
The Iraqi Center Rights), called a Reuters news agency photographer in Basra (Essam al-Sudani), for a lawsuit against the Basra Operations Command for arresting a journalist without a warrant.
