The Rights Center for Freedomof Expression Support strongly condemns the threats to media institutions and journalists who expose corruption files in Iraqi government, and The most recent of which was the Baghdad TodayNews Agency to the threats of repeated liquidation on the background of disclosure the files of financial corruption, while the Center considers these repressive methods a cheap way to stop journalists from exercising their duties in the fight against corruption.
While the Rights Center refuses to repeat threats to Baghdad Today News Agency, it calls on the security agencies to provide immediate and necessary protection toAgency and its staff, and tracking the incoming communication to the Agency and investigating those behind the person who threatened them,While the Ministry of the Interior and the Baghdad Operations Command are responsible for the safety of the agency's employees.
The Rights Center for Freedomof Expression Support calls on the Baghdad Today News Agency to register a lawsuit in the competent courts, while pledging to provide a team of lawyers for that case.
Baghdad TodayNews Agency reported that it had received anonymous telephone calls, in which the callers attempted to transfer threats to discourage the Agency from its duty to reveal the largest file of corruption and smuggling of currency, while indicating that the telephone number through which the threats received is: 07518765148
