The Iraqi authorities has released of the writer and journalist Samir Obaid on Monday 11- Dec- 2017, after the pleadings held in the Central Criminal Court in Baghdad, where the court issued its decision on insufficient evidence, on the basis of a complaint from the intelligence service on charges of communication.

The Iraqi Center for Supporting Freedom of Speech, has demanded in (26/10/2017), the Iraqi judiciary to disclose the lawsuit related to him, when he was referred to the judiciary on the same day, three days after his arrest at his home in Al-Qadissiya district in central of Baghdad.
