The Rights Center for Freedom of Expression Support its surprise at the prosecution of the Minister of Youth and Sports Adnan Darjal and the head of the normalization body for the Iraqi Football Association, Iyad Bunyan, for the presenter of the sports program "Studio Al- Jamaheir", Haider Zaki, through the establishment of several lawsuits following the disclosure of files related to Iraqi sports that were blackout, the Center promises that these prosecutions are part of a systematic policy to silence and confiscate the freedom of opinion and expression guaranteed by the constitution.

On February 2-3, the Rusafa Investigation Court issued 4 summons to the presenter of the " Studio Al- Jamaheir " program, Haider Zaki, following complaints from several personalities, including Minister of Youth and Sports Adnan Darjal, and the head of normalization body for the Iraqi Football Association, Ayad Bunyan.

At a time when the Rights Center for Freedom of Expression Support refuses to drag journalists into the courtroom in order to exhaust them psychologically and distract them from their work, and warns of the efforts to silence the mouths that some officials are working on against journalists and media teams.

The Rights Center for Freedom of Expression Support calls on the Minister of Youth and Sports, Adnan Darjal, the authorities responsible for Iraqi sports and other government institutions to respect the right of the media to open closed files as an independent monitoring authority and a partner in building the foundations of the emerging democracy in the country.

The Rights Center (Huqooq) also calls for the importance of immediately stopping these lawsuits against the presenter of sports programs Haider Zaki, which are considered an arbitrary measure and obstructing his work.

(Huqooq) believes that the four cases registered against the journalist Haider Zaki are a means of undermining freedom of the press and escaping from answering the questions presented in the "Studio Al-Jamaheir" program.

The Rights Center for Freedom of Expression Support calls on the head of the judiciary, Faik Zaidan, to intervene urgently and directly with the executive and judicial authorities, in order to reduce the malicious lawsuits that are filed against journalists and the media, which became used as a means of pressure and as a "arms bend" to silence the voice of the press that defends society.

(Huqooq)  states that the media provides a free service to the state, the government and the judiciary together through investigative information and evidence that exposes thieves and puts an end to their corruption.
