The Rights Center for Freedom of Expression Support calls on Karbala’s Governor, Nassif Al-Khattabi, to urgently intervene and direct the "mukhtar" of the association's area, Nasser Al-Asadi to withdraw the lawsuit filed against the correspondent of Al-Tagheer Satellite Channel in the governorate, Jasim Al-Humim, for preparing a television report regarding the closure of a number of roads.
At a time when the Rights Center for Freedom of Expression Support rejects attempts to silence the voices by dragging journalists into the courtroom in order to psychologically exhaust them and distract them from the work they are entrusted with and warning them from the project to prevent the media from performing their duties based on the freedom of media work guaranteed by the constitution, Law 21 of 2011.
The correspondent of Al-Tagheer Satellite Channel in Karbala, Jasim Al-Humim, informed the Rights Center for Freedom of Expression Support: “after we responded to the appeals of a number of citizens of the association's neighborhood in Bab Touirij about closing 3 streets in the area, we prepared a report on this issue in which the citizens accused the district mayor, Nasser Al-Asadi, of personally closing those streets”.
“We asked Al-Asadi to respond to these accusations, but he did not show up on time, the mayor of Karbala district, Hussein Al-Manqoushi, appeared in the report who admitted the legal violation and directed its removal, indicating that he was subjected to attacks on social media pages by the "mukhtar" of the association's area, Nasser Al-Asadi and his relatives includes treason and insults, until it ended with the registration of a lawsuit following the disclosure of that legal violation” Al- Hamem added.
