The Iraqi Center strongly condemns the Kurdish Asayish forces stormed the headquarters of the NRT satellite channel in Sulaymaniyah north of Baghdad on Tuesday afternoon, and prepare an act contrary to the principles of democracy and a violation of the Iraqi constitution.

The Iraqi Center calls on the President of Kurdistan region not to involve media institutions in political conflicts and rejects the deal with dictatorship of the security forces there, this makes Kurdistan a black environment for journalism.

That the Kurdish Asayish forces, raided the headquarters of the foundation of NRT, which includes a group of television channels, radio station and news agency, that was a call from the Iraqi Center representative in province. while the full broadcast of the stations of the Foundation was closed and did not allow any staff to leave the headquarters, because of coverage of the NRT events that started since Monday.

The Iraqi Center, condemned the attack which was happened on Monday (18-12-2017), by the Kurdish security forces, on the press staff that were covering the demonstrations in Sulaymaniyah to protest the living conditions in the region, Where the correspondent of NRT Arabiya, Taha al-Adnan, was seriously injured by the suffocating gas that was towards the demonstrators.

The Iraqi Center called on the Kurdistan Region authorities to provide the protection to journalists who they were covering the events, while holding the responsibility of the safety of journalists deployed in the areas of demonstrations and the whole province.
