(Rights) Restricting the work of 20 journalists and bloggers in one month and Diwaniyah tops the violations

The Iraqi Center for Supporting Freedom of Speech (Rights) has records restricted the work of 20 journalists and bloggers activists in peaceful demonstrations during the month of October this year, and the most prominent of which was the prosecution of demonstrators in accordance with judicial memoranda by government agencies and parties through the holding of charges to the demonstrators, And the attack on the crews of satellite channels, while covering the ceremony Huaseiniya in the provinces of the Euphrates Middle and South.
Al- Diwaniya province was the top of the violations list this month, as unknown individuals intimidated the family of the director of syndicate journalists in the province, and Governor Sami al-Hasnawi ordered the department directors to ignore the media, in addition to preventing the introduction of radio programs from its work because of criticizing the educational reality.
The Iraqi Center (Rights) also recorded five cases of banning the journalists and, arrest of a citizen on charges of spreading atheism, as well as two attacks on two journalists, an armed attack on the third and the survival of a television presenter in Babylon who was shot on his shoulder.
The Iraqi Center (Rights) expressed concern about the escalation of violations by security forces, especially against demonstrators, journalists and bloggers, which are contrary to the Constitution and international treaties in respect of human rights.
At a time when (Rights), asked all political forces to educate their staff to respect the journalists job and facilitate their tasks, and hopes the head of the House of Representatives, Mr. Mohamed Halboussi, to issue resolutions that will direct the staff, and members of the security forces in particular, to cooperate with journalists and respect their work according to the Constitution and the law.
The Iraqi Center (Rights) publishes the detailed events of the violations happened during October this year, reserving a number of cases at the request of violators.
•    On October 5 the Iraqi Center record case of the head of the radio program, Asma al-Oussi, was prevented by the director of the Diwaniyah radio station, Hossam Hussein Hameed, from entering the radio building because of criticism in the program that he broadcasts to the deteriorating educational reality.
•    On the same date, the Al-Ahed satellite channel in Babylon, consisting of Zulfiqar al-Khafaji and Muhammad al-Safir, was prevented from covering the Husseiniya ceremonies in the province and assaulting them by the security forces there, and in front of the assistant commander of the Special Task Force in Babil, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammed Muayyad.
•    On October 8, the owner of the Beit al-Alwah library, Ihsan Mousa, was arrested in Dhi Qar province by intelligence and counter-terrorism of Shatrah on charges of spreading atheism.
•    On November 11, TV cameraman Saif al-Muhannad was prevented from conducting television coverage of the citizens' queues to the Erbil Education Directorate, after the identity of his press work was withdrawn by the media.
•    On October 13, eight armed men, the editor of "Najaf Now Media Network " Dheia Gharifi, attacked the in Rawan Street in the center of Najaf.
•    While the Iraqi Center on October 17, the survival of television presenter, Ahmed Kanani of an assassination attempt after being injured in his shoulder by unidentified gunmen in the Al- Qassim district south of Babil province.
•    On October 17, members of the Coordination of Basra demonstrations (Ali al-Nur - Nakeeb Allaibi Muhammad Abdullah) were prosecuted for arrest warrants for a lawsuit filed by the Islamic Party of Thar Allah in Basra on charges of burning his headquarters, while they were not present in demonstrations at the hour of burning headquarters, according to their testimony.
•    On October 19, Diwaniyah governor Sami al-Hasnawi accused the district directors of ignoring the local media, especially the local radio stations, and limiting the dealings with the only state radio.
•    On the 23rd of the same month, the team of Al-Iraqiya satellite channel, led by Amin Al-Hilali, was prevented from reaching their work place after completing the ceremony of Al- Arba’aeen in Diwaniyah province by an officer in the governorate's named Najah, in addition to attacking the media crew with offensive words.
•     On October 26, the Iraqi Center (Rights) documented the terror of the family of the Journalists' Syndicate in Diwaniyah, Bassem Habas, by two unknown men wearing black uniforms and shaded by a shaded wheel, after they informed the Habas family that an arrest warrant was issued against him While judicial and security authorities denied that.
