Rights Center for Freedom of Expression Support calls on the Iraqi Council of Representatives not to pass the law on informatics crimes, which would restrict the freedom of expression in the country.
While the Rights Center registers many comments on the draft law of informatics crimes, it is concerned about the enactment of laws with severe penalties and multi-interpretation articles which aims to ending voices that critical the authorities' performance or stopping freedom of expression in social networking sites and the Internet.
At this point the Rights Center calls for the draft law to be public debate through its support by freedom of expression specialists to contribute to democratization, to be a solid law not an official intimidation tool used by officials whenever they want.
Rights Center for Freedom of expression Support calls the Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohamed Halbousi and its members to postpone the presentation of the law of information crimes, until discussed by opinion leaders and specialists to be in accordance with the Constitution and international laws and not to exceed the limits of democracy.
