The Rights Center for Freedom of Expression Support Condemns arrest of Journalists in Kirkuk without Judicial Orders

The Rights Center for Freedom of Expression Support calls on the security authorities in Kirkuk to immediately release the journalists who were detained by a commando military troupe s in al-Dibs district on Tuesday afternoon.
While the Rights Center condemns the arrest of the correspondent of the Kirkuk site Naw Karwan Star Rafiq, the correspondent of the Kurdish NRT channel, Aso Ahmad, and the photographer for covering the developments of the village of Balkana in Dib district in Kirkuk province, so it calls on the authorities to stop these illegal and unconstitutional practices in targeting effective journalists in the province.
The representative of the Rights Center in Kirkuk, reported that a force from the Iraqi army (Commandos), the 14th Division arrested the correspondent of the Kirkuk site Naw Karwan Star Rafiq, the correspondent of NRT Kurdish channel Aso Ahmad and the photographer, in the village of Bkana belonging to the area of Serkan, in the district of Dibs, Kirkuk province, adding that the media staff were arrested while covering tensions between Arab citizens and Kurds, the ownership of agricultural land, "pointing out that the media staff have been detained since 1 pm on Tuesday and so far have not been released.
