Rights Center rejects federal police threat to TV team south of Baghdad

Rights Center for Freedom of Expression Support rejects repeated attacks by security forces on media teams covering the events in the country, and the latest of which was with the team of Dunya Bakhir  program, which is broadcast by NRT Arab satellite channel and presented by Aziz al-Rubaie, so on Thursday night (May 30, 2019), members of the federal police forces forced the team to leave the Abu Dshir area south of Baghdad after knowing that the group intended to film a television episode of the Ramadan ritual.
While the Rights Center deplores the actions of security against the media, it is unacceptable violation, so it is demanding the commander of Baghdad operations Lieutenant General Jalil al-Rubaie, to disclose his position on these attacks, so that the public opinion to know respect for the provisions of the Constitution, which guaranteed the freedom of the press, Especially as the abuses and harassment of security personnel have been repeated recently in the media crews, in addition to the continued restrictions on the reporters of satellite channels while working in the areas of the capital Baghdad.
Rights Center calls on the management of NRT Arabiya channel to register a lawsuit against members of the security forces who forced their staff to leave the scene after the threat of the "Dunya Bakhir" program arrest, while the Center undertakes to provide a team of lawyers in this regard.
